Hold Tight Radio - Dec - Part 1

The Bee Gees. The Alan Parsons Project. Stevie Wonder. Elvis Presley. That's right, it must be the "Hold Tight Best of 08 Round-Up" show. Over the last 12 months I've discovered some truly amazing music- much of it old. It being December though, I decided to put together some of my favourite records from 2008. Turns out it was a pretty good year, as i could have doubled the length of the show and still not fit everything in. Although a number of the tracks here are edits of of old tracks, almost everything on the show was released in one format or another in 2008. Apart from the ones that havent been released at all. Damn it - it's just some music I've been enjoying this year.
It'll be interesting to see where the edit scene goes next year as it's hugely saturated right now, but when there's still incredible records like "Night Flight" and "Make Dance" getting released, and producers like Pilooski doing weird and wonderful things to highly unlikely material (elvis?), there's still life in the old dog yet. Plus it's great to see this stuff only getting released on 12 inch, in some small way keeping vinyl alive and kicking.
Not to forget 08 produced some absolute belting "original" records, a few of which grace this month's offering. Hats off to Mugwump, Max Essa, Emperor Machine and Stevie Kotey's enormous Free Disco remix. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the show, see you in 09. xxx

Hold Tight Live in Berlin, and December show

On Saturday the 13th December i'll be playing at the rather smashing Stereo 33 in Fredrichshain, Berlin. Its right on Boxhagener Platz, 24 Krossener Str. I'll be in the ace little club section at the back, playing some serious basement boogie, deep disco, and general left-field groovers, from 10 til very late. Plus, the Sunday the 14th will be the December Hold Tight show, live on Loud FM. Ill maybe do a little "Best of 08" round up....

HOLD TIGHT RADIO this Sunday night: we have another super special guest mix. This time it's Paul from Spymania Records, the man with fingers in several tasty musical pies. As co-promoter of the Sub:stance club night with Hotflush's Scuba, he spectacularly brought dubstep to the temple of techno, Berghain. I have no idea what to expect from his Hold Tight mix, but I'm sure it'll be quality.

Plus, Catch him spinning a set of old skool classics with Scuba at Back to the Roots 3, VCF club, Berlin on the 21st November.
