As if there weren’t already enough end of year / decade round up and completely pointless charts floating about- its time for the HOLD TIGHT RADIO BEST OF 2009 END OF YEAR ROUND UP SHOW! Check it out this Sunday, 8pm CET at the usual place - Loud FM…. For the last time!

Whoa there! Calm down HOLD TIGHTERS, and take a seat. Parrot and I have been offered a couple of slots on a new Berlin radio station, going by the name of Sweat Lodge. It's a pretty slick operation with some serious DJs ands producers involved. So it's easy to see why we have been headhunted, right?

We'll be starting in January- details to follow. Safe to say however, that you can expect double servings each month with lashings of super special guest mixes from across the musical smorgasbord. We'll also be getting all 'pon da mic, for the first time, so be sure to check out our smoove talkin'. Ahem.

You will also have the additional feel good factor of knowing you are among an international community of fellow listeners. Rather than it just being Ma and Pa Parrot. Haven't decided what to do with the podcast yet- should we keep doing it? Anybody bothered?

November Showtime!

This Sunday (15th) we'll be back on the airwaves, live from the T room's keller. We have a special guest mix too- Eli Pavel of Oye Records will be bringing her soulful dubstep sounds to the show- don't miss it. Hold Tight Radio- These Days Special

This month Hold Tight is proud to host an exclusive guest mix from These Days Records supremo Alexander Ross. These Days is a Berlin label creating a lot of heat right now, with a string of quality releases under their belts- not least from Brooklyn house prodigies The Martinez Brothers and label co-owner Argy.

The Sheffield-born Ross, now living in Berlin, is also a talented producer and remixer in his own right, having dropped his own brand of deep dubby, percussive house on both These Days and Deeply Rooted House offshoot, Future Roots. With DJ support for his tracks from the likes of Carl Craig, Josh Wink, Laurent Garnier and Loco Dice, it's fair to say he's one to watch.

Ross had blessed us with a rather a lovely ambient mix, which will kick off the show, followed by davey and parrot taking over with tons of new and old gems unearthed since the last broadcast. This is the first of a string of guest mixes for Hold Tight Radio, so keep it locked in the coming months!

Welcome to Hold Tight Radio 2.0. After 17 monthly shows from my front room, we are undergoing a little reboot here at HTR HQ. Some much needed fresh blood will be joining me at the helm- welcome Simon "parrot" Parrot. Simon will be co-hosting the show with me, and has kindly offered the use of his lovely T Room , here in the heart of prenzle-berg, Berlin, as the new studio...

Which to you, the listener, basically means we'll both be feeling highly refreshed by tip-top brewage, and thus able to bring you more of the quality radio you deserve. Look out for some pretty stellar guest mixes in the coming months. We shit you not.

The May Mix- Guest! Festival news!

This Sunday (8pm cet) Hold Tight Radio rolls out another 2 hours of specialist audio. This month we have a part 1 of what’s sure to be a cracking mix from Jack Spontan, with a decidedly tropical theme. I’m dusting down my grass skirt and coconut man bra (the “cocobro”) as we speak.

Plus, I’ll be lining up a number of extended 12” dub versions and tweaked-out discoid burners to round out the rest of the show.


And some quick but exciting news: I’ll be playing a boat party (Noah’s Ark) at this year’s Garden Festival in Croatia July 10th. Can’t tell you how much I’m looking forward to this- a Funktion One sound system on a boat in the middle of the Adriatic. There. Is. A. God.

Very excited about this: Saturday the 7th I'll be playing at the Oye Allstars party at KDR, 18 Papel allee. That's in P berg, Berlin, closest U-Bahn is Eberswalder Strasse. For those that don't know, Oye Records is arguably the finest record store in Berlin, and rather dangerously located at the end of my street. Great selection, nice vibe, and the staff are genuinely good people. I might as well transfer half my wages directly to their bank account, damn them. The party fun starts at 10ish, see you there!

Hold Tight Radio.. This time round I have a great guest mix from our man in NYC, Pete Wu. I’ll copy and paste a bit from his recent email to tell you about the mix:

“…it's heavy on bootlegs and NY labels, Restricted Access, in particular and remixes of R'n'B songs from the past few years.

I know it's a departure from a lot of the stuff I was playing in Bkk simply cuz it's not jackin' or dirty or techy. Maybe having spent the past year in NYC had something to do with it as Restricted Access is based outta there but more likely, this is the kind of stuff I spin when I'm taking a break from the harder, more frenetic stuff. I called it "About Time" because I hadn't done a mix and I had promised a few people I would - they just happened to be the types who said they liked some of the more vocal-oriented mixes I did so I put together some of my favorite newer vocal, NY-flavored songs.”
